    General Rottweiler Care

You will be extremely happy with your Rottweiler puppy and as it grows, and with your adult Rottweiler as well. These dogs are dignified and funny at the same time; they are powerful yet restrained and watchful; they do not bark in vain, they never attack unless severely provoked and anyway you look at it, the Rottweilers are a great choice for a pet.

In order to draw out good behavior from this majestic animal, you should be prepared to have it trained for at least 12 months, though it will need constant guidance and supervision until it reaches 24 months of age. Till then, the Rottweiler will behave like a puppy by being unpredictable and playful.

The general Rottweiler care starts with the vaccinations, proper diet, regular de-worming and ends with exercising and constant interaction. The Rottweilers have weak immune systems, and they will need a regular vet for medical attention. Do not be upset if your Rottweiler seems to be catching all the flues and viruses that exist around them as this is expected with this breed.

    Proper Diet Helps Preserve Health

87% of all dogs DIE way too early because of the food they are fed. Find out how to STOP this happening to your Rottweiler!

A proper Rottweiler care regime will help boost its immune system with the help of health supplements and high protein content food. You should ensure that your Rottweiler eats only high-grade food and meat should be a common ingredient of the Rottweilers diet. The percentage of protein in the diet of the Rottweiler should not fall below 30 percent. Similarly, Rottweiler care dictates that the fat content should never be below 20 percent and the fiber about four percent minimum if you want to have a healthy Rottweiler.

The Rottweiler care includes regular grooming. Take care of the nails and have them cut, or cut them yourself, every two to three weeks. Baths should be given with caution, lest you aggravate its delicate health condition. The Rottweilers shed twice a year and it can be extremely messy but other than brushing as often and you can, there is precious little than you can do.

An important aspect of Rottweiler care is to ensure that your Rottweiler gets sufficient exercise, with an ideal timetable would be 20 minutes in the morning and 20 minutes in the evening. Without adequate exercise the dog might be becomes bored, resentful, and uncooperative and even leave its food. It is easy to have them exercised because they can and will do everything you want them to do, run, swim, and bring the ball.

The Rottweiler needs special attention with regard to hip dysplasia, elbow dysplasia, bone diseases, Willebrand’s disease (bleeding problem), heart problems and plenty of allergies and some even develop eye problems. The Rottweiler care will necessitate yearly check ups after the dog completes its seventh year as they are also prone to bone and immune system cancer.

In spite of their bulk and size, the health concerns facing the Rottweiler are many and will require specific medical attention. You should, as the owner, be knowledgeable enough to recognize problems when you see them.
