    Rottweiler puppy care

A Rottweiler is a great dog to have as a companion, as a guard dog as well as a pet and its reputation of being an overly aggressive dog is the result of a few unfortunate incidents. These were most likely due to the dog being trained to be an aggressive animal, which should remove the blame from the dog.

You need to remember that a Rottweiler puppy has a long history of herding and guarding property for which their genes do carry aggressive behavior. However, you should also be aware that the Rottweiler is slow to anger and does not attack unless severely provoked or he finds his property in direct danger.

In order to have the puppy happy and well adjusted you will need to be with it all the way until it is two years of age. Another thing that you should consider very carefully is the place where you are going to keep it. While the Rottweiler adjusts easily to life in an apartment, it is the happiest when it is kept in the open with a lot of place to exercise and play. If you have a courtyard, it should definitely be fenced as a Rottweiler puppy or an adult will not like any intrusion on his territory and making it advisable that his territory is completely fenced from outsiders.

    Rottweilers Not Accepted Everywhere

87% of all dogs DIE way too early because of the food they are fed. Find out how to STOP this happening to your Rottweiler!

In case you do not stay in your own house, or you have plans to move, keep in mind that many neighborhoods and even house owners do not encourage having a Rottweiler in and around them. You may find it difficult to move into a new apartment, or you would have to leave the Rottweiler puppy in a shelter for adoption. This can prove to be heart breaking for you and traumatic for the Rottweiler puppy since it is a one-man dog and adjusts with great difficulty to another environment.

You should be able to train the Rottweiler puppy with a steady and firm hand with or without the help of a professional trainer. You will also need to be strong enough to initially control the dog as it dog will listen only to those whom it respects and unless you have the capacity to handle a full grown Rottie, it may not be a good idea to have one.

For those who are not very assertive, it would be good to have a female Rottweiler puppy instead of a male, since the females are easier to control, less aggressive and smaller when they become adults.

Now that we rounded the basics, learn how to prepare your home for the arrival of the Rottweiler puppy. Preparing for your Rottweiler puppy is no cakewalk. There are many factors involved and many things to consider. Tread carefully as you will be responsible for the life of a majestic animal that deserves the best there is.
