I have a male 2 year old rottweiler (german-american mix) that is neutered; ever since he was born he's chewed on stuff–is he still teething, or is he just plain bored and what do I do to stop it?
At 2years old he's not teething anymore, unless he's having a problem with teeth. Sounds like a behavior prob.

He's probably bored and apparently this "chewing" has become a tolerated habit on your part. He needs more exercise and discipline.

Take him to the vet to rule out medical issues, increase his exercise and get him appropriate chews. (Bully sticks, trachea, tendon…no rawhide or nylon they aren't digestible.)

he is bored.try getting him some Kong toys.they are virtually indestructible and you can add treats to them so it will keep him busy

He's certainly not teething anymore. If he's chewing on things while you're away it's because he's bored. I suggest getting him a few toys to put around the house for him to chew on instead of furniture etc. If you catch him in the act of chewing make a big deal about it. Shout no and point at the spot that he's been chewing. Make him understand that it's behavior that's no acceptable.

He's not teething anymore. Just get him something he is allowed to chew on and start disciplining him when he doesn't chew on it.

both, get him a fabric tie chew toy,, don't do raw hides they are dangerous…or go and by him a cheap pair of mens leather boots, payless has some cheap ones…play with him with that, and he'll learn to just chew that one… I learned after my wicker patio set/couch arm/table leg/shoes/purses/ all but disappeared,

not teething
either bored or medical problem
if bored, try spending more time interacting with him in a way that stimulates his brain. a mentally tired dog is less likely to chew out of boredom. try training classes or at least basic obedience work at home daily. plenty of physical exercise is also critical.

How long have you had him? If he was with another family, it may be from them not caring for him properly. I got my 2 y/o female Rott from another family when she was just over 1 y/o, and all it took as 2 weeks of a really stern hand with her, and she got the hint. Also, is he fixed? If he's not fixed, well….that could be the problem….pent up agression, lol. Good luck!!

Three words: Exercise, Exercise, Exercise. Just when you think he's had enough, give him more. Wear him out and he won't wear out your stuff. In addition to that, go to the store and buy the biggest cow knuckle you can find.

I have an eight year old male rott who i've had since he was six weeks old. He's huge and i've never had a chewing problem with him. Great suggestion that will probably work really well as it did for me…buy a toy called the Kong. It's indestructible and shaped like a cone…it has a hole in the bottom for you to put treats in. He will be consumed with chewing on it to get the treat and won't want to chew on anything else…TRY IT!!!!!!!
