I have an American Bulldog/Pitbull mix and it is now very old I love him to death he is a great dog very loyal loving and obedient what would be the best dog to get after my dog’s time is over which i hope isnt soon.
German Sheppard?
Rottweiler?
American Bulldog?
ive had many types of dogs—korean jindos, german shepherds, rottweiler, golden retriever, bernese mountain dog, boxer, and saint bernard.
however, from my experience, the most loyal and most protective were the korean jindos. they are very protective and loyal to family, and they only see family in their eyes, no one else. They will fight to the death for you, and this legend has never been proven wrong, they even defend owners who abuse and neglect them. plus, jindos only know one family and owner, that’s why it takes so long for jindos to adjust to new homes or they run away to try to return home. and training comes really easy too—self trained & self potty trained from birth (at least my jindos were).
the second dog that I’d choose is the bernese mountain dog. My berner saved my life twice and I love her to death, i cried for days when she died. Very protective and loyal–family oriented. Training came very easily–she learned quickly and made only a couple mistakes as a puppy. She was my sister and gaurdian angel. The downfall is that they have very short lives due to diseases.

I would defently say a german shepherd. My dog is a german shepherd and is very loyal, and a devoted family member. Thats my #1 choice in dog breeds.
I am having him to be put down soon though due to old age

All of those dogs are loyal if you raise him right in a good loving environment. But Dogs are loyal even when raised my bad owners.
I think German Shepard would be the easiest to train out of the 3.

They live to be near their masters all the time. I owned 1 =D very loyal
Well all listed are great breeds but I would recommend the Boxer above all. They are loyal, tough, affectionate, protective and smart. Also you will have no “Attack” worries like you would with the other breeds you listed. And they look very cool!

From your list, I’d say a German Shepard.

If you want a dog with a similar personality type, a doberman could probably be your next dog. They are extremely intelligent, loyal, easy to train, and a great family dog. I’ve had my Doberman for eight years, and if I ever have to get another dog, it’ll definitely be another dobie.

All great dogs–it’s hard to choose! I’m a Shepherd/Collie/Sheepdog kind of girl, which leads me to the German Shepherd. Yet I have a soft spot for Rottes and Bulldogs as well.
I’d see what adoptable dogs are nearby, and what reputable breeders. Look at my profile to see how to spot a reputable breeder.

My dad has a rottweiler–she was really really rambunctious and hyper up until about 2 yrs old. She wasn’t all that hard to train except she was just so big and so hyper. But now she’s the best dog! She’s a great guard dog, I trust her with my young nephews, has a very human-like personality, and very very loyal. Overall a great dog; we questioned ourselves those first couple years though.
My mom has 2 black labs–they are very very good dogs. They were easy to train. They chewed on a lot of stuff when they were young, but they were fine in every other aspect. They’re very good with children and very good family dogs.
Those are my two picks. Good luck!

I’m kind of questioning how, if you love your dog so much, you are planning to replace him before he has actually died?

I have a labrador, and she is the best dog. She is the third one I’ve had in my life now, and they are soooo smart and really easy to train. I
have always had female Labs because they are actually easier to potty train, though if you are consistent, a male can be trained also to go outside to potty, it just takes a bit longer. My Labradors have all lived to about 14 years old. After each one passed away, I gave myself
from 6 months to a year before adopting another one….healing time, you know? Anyway, I wish you luck, which ever breed you decide on.

I’ve owned GSP,Rottie and currently own an AB female puppy. Out of the 3, I strongly recommend the american bulldog!.This breed has everything the other 2 have and more. They are smart, extremely good with kids, protective but not aggressive, quiet dogs and very impressive. I’ve had and raised different breed of dogs but we are so pleased with the AB that we’re considering get another one soon.In addition its true AB are prone to hip and joint problems as any another large dogs but not as much as GSP or Rotties.AB coat is more easy to take care of thna the other 2 breeds, less shedding and if at early age you socialize them, they will be a better companion and assest to your family. Another good thing is that AB truly obey the command of his master in case of any aggression behavior…in the other hand(and I had the experience) you wouldn’t try to stop a Rottie when is engage an aggression…he would hurt you!…All dogs under such circunstance represent a danger but at least the AB by nature tends to immediately obey his owner.
Another good reason to pick the AB is they are a rare breed, charm looking dog, excell in all competitions where participate or even those which GSP used to be top as Schutzhund and even K-9 police Dept. of several States are beginning to enroll AB as police dogs because of the higher pain tolerance and versatility. Finally,if you read about the breed it’ll tell you that AB are well known for go beyond any limit in order to protect his master…fighting even fire!..do you want more proof of loyalty?. Good luck

Currently we own an extraordinary AB puppy. She’s 5 months old, weighs +65 lbs., and 19″ to the withers.
get a boxer, by nature they are very playful but also very protective of their family.

You wont get many reliable answers here as in questions like this people nearly always say their own breed even if they have no experience with other breeds. Most dog will be loyal to you if it is raised correctly but it also depends on the dog its self some dogs can be extremely loyal and some just aren’t.You should look into different aspects of the breeds like are you prepared to handle double coats especially in summer? Things like this are what you should look into for your next dog
