You will most probably have a very loyal dog that is GREAT with kids, obedient and easy to train. Did I mention a great guard dog? American bulldogs are one of the best breeds with babies and people. They are not dog agressive, and are very easy to potty train. They are always willing to please. Rottis are excellent guard dogs, great with kids and extremely loyal. Like any other big dog, you have to use caution when new kids or people come into the house. They will defend family members, especially kids, and if someone is horsing around, they might think their owners are in danger, and they might act. Please make sure you socialize him with LOTS of people inside and outdoors.

9,463rd.time………….there's no predicting ANYTHING about any sort of mutt/mongrel!

There's no correcting ignorant bigots.Ignore them…pity their limits.

you are right you are the one that makes the dog who he is. Rottis aren't bad they are very loving dogs, one thing people think rottis ar bad is cause they growl alot.. it is there trait to growl they are talking, my bosses rotti growls when she has a toy that is how she plays, you can reach in and grab the toy right out of her mouth, i hope you d o well with the mixed breed but if you feel confident in taking it on go for it.

I have two rottie mixes. People are scared to death of them, but they are the sweetest dogs. One I adopted 2 months ago. He is over 100 hundred pounds and very insecure. We are working with him to make him more confident. He barks at strangers, but that's as far as it goes. He would never bite. Rotties are so sweet and loyal. You will have an excellent companion.

1st: He is gorgeous =) 2nd: I, like you, believe that dogs are what you make them. Rotts are not vicious dogs neither are american bulls I have a pit/shepherd mix and a full pit that everyone said I was stupid for getting and they are the sweetest pups ever. The only thing I worry about it them licking someone to death. If you like him and think he would make a good addition to the family (and you have the time to give to a puppy) I say get him. If you show a dog love you will get a dog that loves.

I hope you arnt buying that dog. Rotties are great but a mix is a mix and no one should be paying a greeder for a mutt. There isn't anything predictable about temperaments. That is the whole point of purebreds, you KNOW what you are getting.

If you are adopting him, that is a different story. Just socialize and train him the same way you would any other dog.

I have an American Bulldog. She's great, the most stubborn animal I've ever owned, but good regardless!! Doesn't like when people she doesn't know walk past the house or turn around in the driveway. Potty trained pretty quick, and she's a light shedder!!

Hey, he doesnt look like he has Am. Bulldog in him , looks like a rottweiler only. Anyway, ur partly right, a dog is what u make him to be, environment does count. But so does genetics, individual temperament/character. Its very tough to predict anything right now as a pup, what u can do is do ur part of socialization, training, showering love n affection, n positive teaching n nurturing. If u do ur part chances are mostly what u said, he'll turn out to be what u expect of him, cuz thats what u raised him to be, just like u do with ur kids, they are a reflection of their parents/bringing up/environment. So start on a positive note, dont get affected by what people say, believe in ur own self, n do the right thing, life is not so bad n unjust after all, u'll get rewarded sweetheart. Best of luck

I have an American Bulldog/Rottie mix, and he is the best dog in the world. He is strong and scares people away from the house with just a bark, and then cuddles with my 4lb kitten and snores on the pillow next to me and my fiancé at night. My Bear is just the sweetest dog I have ever had, and with proper training and socialization I’m sure your puppy will be a great new family member.

  16. A STRANGER says:

Some folk make me laugh “Mutts” ” pure breed” NO DOG is a pure breed folks, none inc the Rott with its 8+ breeds mixed in, I have a Rott and a American bullweiler (rottxABD-SCOTT) and both are great the American bullweiler is the biggest out of the two standing about 6″ higher than my male Rott and has far greater muscle tone and agility, but I love both my dogs for what they are “my friends” not there paper work.

  17. Molasar Mix says:

Morons, half wits and idiots who have posted here ….

listen up and get a free education …

The Rottweiler and the American Bulldog are both Molasar breeds.

If you want to read and LEARN before you post .. Google
    Molasar breeds.

It has been well established that Hybrid dogs … dogs of similar size but of different breeds mating and producing.

As Forest Gump .. said in the movie.. life is a box of chocolates you don’t know what you are going to get untill you open the box.

Well dogs doing the wild thing in the street usually produce mutts .. which can be some of the most loyal and lovable dogs around.

But here you don’t really need to guess both dogs are Molasars .. both dogs basically guard property.

What you know for sure that there has NOT been any line breeding .. another word for inbreeding .. since most AKC and other such organizations .. demand a STANDARD for their dogs. Many breeders keep reusing the same stock of dogs, this is true especially with rare breeds.

To get a Rott that conforms to breed standards breeder will breed father to daughter .. and you will get a dog that fits the standard, but is week mentally and prone to all sorts of congenital diseases.

Hey how many Rotts does the breeder have on hand? This is a big problem with rare breeds Can Corsos, Filas,Dogue de Bordeaux, Presas.

I would NEVER get one of these dogs .. simply because breeders breed to make a buck .. and they simply do not give a $uck .. or rat’s rear, if their little breeding experiment rips someones head off. In fact that is part of the selling points of some of the above breeds.

ABD crossed with Rott = large healthy .. mentally well adjusted dog. With a low risk for hip problems.

Anyone can write anything they want on an open forum, and most of the comments are truly uninformed. But then again if our eduction system worked .. and we as a people ..
Barack Hussein Obama. The Sheeple have spoken and dark unwashed masses have won the day.

Bottom line .. it will turn out to be a great dog!

  18. NiceShyGuy says:

Rotts and American Bulldogs are essentially the SAME.

They are both MOLOSSARS .. MASTIFF TYPE DOGS.

I own a American Bulldog he is the size of a of

    Bull-mastiff.

Americans love “big” so the American Rott has been blown way

out of size, many male Rotts now average 140 to 160 pounds.

German Rotts .. the real deal .. max out at 100 and really

    look like black American Bulldogs.

Rotts tend to be harder to train .. very stubborn dogs,

they like to impose their will on the owner and usually

    they do.

Rotts can be .. and some people want them to be(K-9cops)

people aggressive. ABs can be both people and animal

aggressive, but most are mainly animal aggressive, I

    know mine is.

One thing that distinguishes the “bully” breeds is that

they will not back off from a fight or attack. Forget

the pepper spray .. you need a ax handle or a gun to

stop them ones they get going.

Pure Rotts today tend to be vicious .. big and vicious.

That is how they are breed and people seem to want that

in the dog. Unlike an AB Rotts get tired unless attack

trained and will back off an attack after one or two

    nasty bites.

Good news is ALL the above goes right out the window

when these dogs are crossed. The gene pool which is

kinda “green” in both breeds gets a makeover .. and the

best of both breeds comes out. Rotts are very

intelligent dogs .. right up there with Labs. Once you cross

the two bloodlines .. which have not been crossed in

hundreds of years, you tend to get the best of both dogs.

Plus Hybred vigor meaning the dog will be healthier mentally

    and physically than the parents.

By about the 5th month you will know exactly what you have.

If it is a problem … well give it to someone who needs a

vicious guard dog. If not then you probably will have a

great pet .. scary looking protective by not aggressive.

That is the combo you want and right now with the garbage

that is being breed by “breeders” .. a mix is the ONLY dog

that can give the desirable traits you want.

    look like
