which breed of dog is heavier, taller and larger muscle mass?? an american akita or a rottweiler…obviously im talking about two fully grown males.
If you go by breed standard, the Akita. But, Americans have destroyed the poor Rottie by making them bigger than they are supposed to be or ever intended to be, so it depends on the bloodlines.

In either case it depends on the lines.

Believe Rottweilers are larger. Akitas vary, some are larger than others.

a german rott is probably bigger then a akita, an american rott tend to be a little smaller. the akita may be taller but not more muscle or heavier.
References :
They’re both pretty similar, Akitas can be up to 130lbs and 28ins according to standards and Rottweilers can be 110lbs and 27ins. Individual dogs can vary greatly due to breeding etc.

Usually a rottweiler

A well bred Rottweiler male should not weigh more than 115 lbs, give or take a little. I do not know the average height for an akita, but know that the Rottweiler male is not supposed to exceed 27 inches. As for larger muscle mass, I suppose that would depend on how well developed the muscles are. If the dog is well conditioned, vs. a poorly conditioned dog.
It is kind of like comparing apples to oranges. You can’t.

My question would be to ask why you are asking?
Do you have a bet with someone or just doing research?
Going by the standards, the male Akita should not be any taller than 26" and weigh between 75 – 119 lbs which is very similar to the male Rottweiler. Although as mentioned you cannot always go by standards, it has a great deal to do with the Breeder and how well they have researched the Dogs heritage, lines and quality of food and care etc.
Someone here mentioned the German vs American Rottweilers, the truth is there really is no difference except for where they were born and the fact the ones born in Germany will have their natural tail because it is outlawed in Germany and most other European countries. But I will say when the Rotties came to America is when they started becoming larger than the standard, they were taller than the normal standard Rotties of Germany.
I have been around Akitas and many Rotties, and have never met an Akita with the muscle mass of a well bred Rottie but that may just be due to the ones I have met not being the best representative of the Akita breed, not sure.
A great number of Rottweiler Breeders have mixed in the Mastiff in order to make the Rotties larger, I have one who has Mastiff somewhere in his bloodline, I am thinking his Grandparents or Great GP because I had his Mom and met his Dad who were both pure Rotties. I do Rottweiler Rescue and is how I attained the Mom and one of her Pups. Levi who I am reffering to is 2,5 years old and just topped the scale at 149 lbs, which is humongus for a Rottie and also lets me know there is something else there, his face will show that it is indeed Mastiff. LOL He is very tall at 29" a neck of 25" and chest measures 38" he is a very large Rottie but not the norm.
When I first weighed Levi last week, I really was upset and worried about the weight so cut his food back by 1/2 cup each meal and it wasn’t long before I could see the outline of his ribs so evidently he needs the amount he has been eating to carry off his bone structure. He eats 4 cups of food 2X a day.

I have owned, trained, showed and now rescue Rottweilers for over 20 years and have rehomed over 200 Rotties.
I haven’t had any problems with my american akita.
