Emergency Care For Your Rottweiler

Everybody should be able to manage some simple emergencies, just as you would do with first aid with your children at home. Unlike what it sounds, emergency Rottweiler care does not mean you will need to study medicine. There are certain things that you will learn through experience, and there are certain things that circumstances will teach you. The most important thing that you should keep in mind when an emergency occurs is that you should not loose your cool.

Emergency Rottweiler care will require you to be as attentive and ready to act as with your own children. Since the puppy is very active, it may get hurt, though this is not really a common occurrence. The may get puncture holes from fights with other animals or from falling on sharp things, they may eat poison from bathrooms, they might swallow bones or other things which are stuck in its alimentary canal, or bowels.

You should be prepared with a standard emergency first aid kit and the phone number of your vet who should ideally be with within minutes if required. Good Rottweiler care would also dictate that you know a good hospital and you have the means to reach it in a matter of minutes if need be.

As per standard Rottweiler care, your first aid kit should contains scissors to cut the hair away from the wound, being very careful when you use scissors around an excitable animal as it may add to the injury, bandage and cotton to stem blood flow, disinfectant, and a saline bag. You should also have coagulant liquid and powder to stem medium bleeding, and sedatives to calm the dog down, though you should never sedate the dog without the advice of the vet.

Other than these, sudden emergencies may happen as a result accidents in the kitchen, dog pulling things on its head, for instance. For all emergencies, you should be trained in the basics of Rottweiler care by the veterinary doctor such as, how to administer a saline bottle, how to stem blood flow, how to immobilize the dog to prevent further injury, how to tie splinter to limbs in case they break it, among others.

As the Rottweiler ages, you will need to learn how to care for your dog in its old age. Fortunately, the Rottweiler is a wonderful dog that, if fed well and exercised well ages gracefully without too much trouble.
