What Is the Bite Pressure of a Rottweiler/German Shepard Mix?

Don't make the same mistakes I made with my Rottweiler!

I know you probably can’t get the exact pressure, but I’m not sure if there’s a way to average it out somehow.
To Don: I was attacked by my Shepard/Rottweiler mix a couple years ago, and I like to learn as much as I can about so I can continue to recover emotionally.

A lot!! Considering they are two of the highest. But although you can research the jaw pressure of a GSD vs. the jaw pressure of a rott, you’ll only be able to guess about yours without testing because the upper jaw is inherited separately from the lower jaw. That’s why they could genetically engineer the jawline of the bulldog, overbites, underbites, etc.

******

Sorry to hear about the attack. Just for your own health, if you’re using this information to repeat over and over how much pressure the dog had that attacked you, then you’re dwelling in the past and that will only cause long-term harm to your emotionally and perhaps, physically. Use the negative situation to define how you wish things had played out, and imagine it going differently. What would you have done differently in that situation if it happened today? Find a way to process it and let it go so that it doesn’t rule you.

Pretty sure there was some show or something on this… look up on youtube the strongest dog jaws or something… I think it’s GSD, Rottie, Dobie, American Pit, and then other dogs.

Some people in the business of training guard dogs have studied this.
You can google bite pressure of dogs and read various websites.
The last person who asked this question inquired about a breed that has not been studied.
As I recall, the bite pressure in the studies ranged from about 235# to a high of about 560# pressure.

And, as your first responder stated, some of this information is in videos posted at YouTube-!-

It’s a mix, so there’s no way to tell.

Well I’ve had rottweilers for 25 years and I haven’t got a clue.

Maybe I am not interested in information that is irrelevant to keeping the breed.

A rottie will hold and tear, and the bite pressure has proven to be greater than any other dog. However, a GS has also been proven by the US Air Force to have the greatest bite pressure and most damage pressure than any other dog. So probably a HUGE bite pressure!!

The average bite force of a domestic dog is 320lbs.

    German Shepherd = 238lbs

    Rottweiler = 328lbs

I haven’t got a clue about a Rottie/GSD mix, it all depends on what size the dog takes after. If it is more GSD then about 240 – 260lbs but if it takes ofter the Rottweiler then about 290 – 330lbs. But it would be very hard to determine.

    Bite force video – http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y-9UNEDbXAc

How can a Rottweilers bite force be proven to be more than any other dog, it has been tested and compared to highest bite force from a domestic dog the Rotties bite force is small.

The highest bite force is a Turkish Kangal = 743lbs http://www.kurdistan24.com/Tierrassen_Bilder/kangal.jpg

A dogs bite force has nothing to dog with breed, just because a dog is a staffie, pitbull or rottie it doesn’t mean they have the highest bite force you stereotypes.

Actually a Staffies and a PitBulls bite force isn’t much higher than a Labradors!

Bigger skull and Broader jaws = Higher bite force

The breed of dog = Nothing to do with bite force, GET IT?

I’d guess around 290 pounds of pressure.

Apparently enough to cause emotional problems 2 years after the fact….although I dont know how that would help you recover. It was a dog very poorly trained.
