Is it true the German Rottweiler bites alot harder than the pitbull terrier.
I have heard they pack well over 350psi and the Pit is around 280 psi.

No offense but Dobies, Rotts, Pits, etc. Don't even come close to the hardest bite.
Nobody here is giving the breed a bad reputation or trying to start things up. This is a matter of fact and hoax, and this about the Rottweiler having the strongest bite, is a hoax. There are other breeds out there are twice as large and they pack 3 or 4x times a harder than any of those breeds you just mentioned. They choose the Rottweiler, Shepherd and Pit because they are was the most popular dog to have during a specific time period.
Nobody could actually convince that a Rottie is the most powerful and hardest of all dogs, because im there are other breeds that did not get tested, so that little trial thing is useless.

It's all garbage. A hard bite from any strong dog will do damage, so who cares? There are lots of big strong breeds and all can harm people and other animals if they bite hard.

I have heard the same statistics that you have heard from multiple sources and have no reason to question it. I am NOT going to be the bite test dummy to prove it.
I am not trying to promote the bad rap. I have Rotts and I know for a fact that the bite is strong enough to kill a good size flea.
Scientifically speaking they do have the strongest bite

Everyone STOP trying to give these dogs a bad rep!!! They have illegal dog-fighting in their blood.I have a rotty who has never bitten anyone…not even a play bite! So,Golden Retrievers are the 3rd strongest bite. Is everyone gonna give them a bad reputation, also? Take the Bulldog for instance. They were bred for chasing down BULLS. That's how they got their name. It's also how they got fighting in their blood. But people bred it out of them over the years. Look at them now! Now no one is blaming Bulldogs. It's NOT a dog's breed that determines how mean it is. It's previous owners and bad blood. The only thing these dogs know how to do is fight most the time. My Doberman has never bitten anyone. Not even play-fighting. He's never gotten into a real fight with another dog unless if they were puppies playing. Please everyone do NOT blame these wonderful breeds. It's not the individual dogs' faults! And why in this round world are you watching dog fights on youtube? I could report that to the cops if you'd like. My neighbro's black Lab is an agressive dog with anger issues because of the fighting blood in his breeding that goes back 30 years ago. Is everyone going to be afraid of labs, now? Even though they're supposed to be the gentlest dog? The breed also doesn't depend on how gentle a dog is.either. IT'S THE DOG'S PEDIGREE!
P.S. Just remember one thing….It's not the size of the dog with the bite/in the fight. It's the size of the bite/fight in the dog.

Both breeds have a hell of a bite and can do some serious damage, I use to own a Rotty and i had seen her bite into a large piece of wood and snap it in half with one bite. Didn't take her long to divower a bone either. Both breeds also have a very powerful grip once they get ahold of something they wont let go unless they need a better grip or if they are trained to let go or just want to give up and let go on their own.
As a 9 month old pup my rotty had grabbed on to a friend of mine by the arm luckly for him he was wearing a leather jacket at the time, she didn't know him and he was trying to get in the house so she locked on to him when he was trying to enter, he said it felt like a vice grip on his lower arm the more he would try to push himself in the door the more pressure she would put on his arm he said finally after it felt like she was going to snap his arm in half he backed out and she released..lol..so yeah they can do some serious damage if they want to.

Of all the questions I have seen,..finally one I can answer. A little background of why I know. I owned a wolf, and in reading dozens of books, about the characterists of "wolves", learned they have the strongest bite of all canines. 1500 lbs per square inch.
Which when considered, it is necessary for such a strong bite to take down much larger animals that they prey on.. (Just for the record, over 700,00 wolves have been killed by man,..but not ONE case has ever been recorded of a wolf (not hybred) having ever attacked or bitten a man. Anyway, to show the comparison, they stated that the Shepard, often referred to as the German Sheppard, had the next strongest bite, at 750 lbs. per square inch. Dobermans, Pit Bulls, and Rots,…were several lbs less per square inch. They listed reasons, which I cannot recall of why the various dogs were less,..and it had a lot to do with that particular canines need for strength. Hope my answer helped.

It depends on the rottweiler. The majority of them just kinda bounce off the sleeve anymore…then run (well, actually it's more of a "waddle" away). As far as PSI with a rottie…the only thing I'd worry about is one SITTING on me!

Ok, i know more on this subject than you guys. I have been a professional agitator for over 10 years and have over 40 years experiance with large mastiff mossier dogs.
1, we are talking bite force, not a dogs willingness to hold on.
example: Rottweiler bites much harder than a pit bull, WAY harder. Pit bull has a greater urge to hold on and not let go, to the point that when they do let go their muscles are cramped and poeple think it is their jaw unlocking (no such thing as a locking jaw on a K9).
I could make a fancy list but it would be BS since in my experiance there are rottweilers that bite harder than boerboels and vice versa. In bite force breed and size do matter, but not to the point that you can pick the hardest biter from just knowing the size and breed of a dog.
That said, a Caucasian shepherd or cousin of will be the hardest biting dog (central asian shepherd, moscow watchdog ect…).
umm, a nile crock, giant of its kind can only put down a bite of 2500 acording to national geographic, 1500lb from a dog id a myth, cant happen, their jaw would explode if they could apply those pressures.
I see some of you will take serious the test of NatGeo… when the Pit was cleary an ADBA ( 15 to 20KG max ) and his bite was near at bite of Rot, if you like to see real Pit pressure test with UKC Pit around 40KG and you will notice soon why a Rot will run away from a Pit, personally I dont care wich dog have more pressure dog’s are friends not weapon, but in my experience with many breeds like Pit, Rot, Dogo Argentino and Central Asian I can assure you the Dogo Argentino was the only Dog i’ve seen to broken with a single bite a cow femur… I got 27 dog’s and some cow, that cow was running outside his fence and 3 of my dog’s have attacked her, a Rot leave the cow after 1 min my male Pit and the Dogo have bite one leg each and the leg where the dogo was broke after less than 1 minute,Now make your considerations
