We Are Looking to Breed Quality German Rottweilers?

Don't make the same mistakes I made with my Rottweiler!

Does anyone know anything about getting a female (at what age, would we breed her) and the cost in breeding high quality rotties.

If you have to come on Y!A to ask any breeding questions – you haven’t done nearly enough research to even know the basics.

Get offline – get a mentor or two – go to shows – go to trials – meet some breeders – learn the ropes.
THEN you can think about breeding dogs.

If you have to ask these questions you are years away from being ready to breed quality anything. Start going to dog shows and talking to breeders, then go from there.

I think that if you went to the Rottweiler Club of America, you would get more specific information for Rotties.

The best place to go is http://www.amrottclub.org/ and find a breeder mentor immediately. You’ll need to train under them for 3-5 years before you’ll be ready to breed any dog on your own.

Here’s a breakdown of costs, it’s thorough, but it’s difficult to read. http://www.dpca.org/BreedEd/costoflitter.htm

    Here’s another one http://www.cyberdobes.com/DobermanLitterCosts.htm

They say $4200 low to at least $15,000 if there is a complication of some sort.

I know a breeder whose pups got Parvo. She spent $10000 on treating them, not counting the basic costs of breeding.

if you would like.. you can get in touch with a local (i would say up to about 200 miles away) breeder and see if they need a male for a litter..

they will ask you many questions.. is he AKC registered?
    Temperament??
    Hips checked??

    Things like that..

You should not breed a dog under 2 years old.. especially a large breed dog because they take up to 18 months just to get full size.. and some take longer..
But a female.. a healthy female.. can be bred anywhere between 2 and 6.. but do not stress her out and breed her more than once a year..

If you have the male.. a lot of times the female owners may just give you pick of the litter or if you have the female.. you can charge what you feel would be a suitable cost.. or just give them the pick of the litter..

DOESNT ANYONE TAKE THE TIME TO REALIZE THAT YOUR BEAUTIFUL PUPS WOULD NEVER BE PART OF YOUR LOVING FAMILIES.. IF IT WASNT FOR BREEDERS..

The fact that you refer to them as "GERMAN" Rottweilers leads me to believe that you have no education as far as the breed goes. I assume you mean "Working Rottweilers", of which there are very few. I import dogs on a regular basis from Europe….Quality Rottweilers are few & far between even there. If you want something with the quality of the long gone Rottweilers, plan on spending 2-3 years traveling extensively throughout Europe, and have EXPENDABLE cash. Even a half-ass "working" Rottie will demand $60-70K. Without long time contacts, you will be shown only the "bottom of the barrel"..ONLY the "bottom". If you had long-term relations in Europe, you might be able to acquire one of their top producers….but it would be well beyond $60-70K…and, Germany would vanquish someone who let something like that go. Rottweiler breeding has taken a nose dive worse than any other breed on the planet….there are countless people that are highly involved in International Rottweiler competitions that can’t find a good Rottie…and they have LIMITLESS funds. TO Achieve the things necessary to breed a female, the minimum is 2 years old…..with you…no experience…no education….12-15 years and several Rotties before you reach breeding capacity. By then, the "working Rottie" will be completely extinct. You could easier find a pair of breeding Dodo Birds than you could "quality Rottweilers".
