What Other Dog Breeds Can Be Trained to Attack Apart From Rottweilers and German Shepard’s?

Don't make the same mistakes I made with my Rottweiler!

and how old do you start training them to attack

You can train any breed of dog to attack, it’s just that most people don’t bother training Chihuahuas or Pomeranians. There wouldn’t be much point unless you’re planning to attack people with weak ankles.

P.S. – It is SHEPHERD, not SHEPARD. And you don’t need an apostrophe.

Why the fuck are you asking that question. How about you watch spca shows on animal planet. You can get arrested and have all your dogs taken away from you. Thats pure cruelty, people like you should be trained to fight not the dogs, so you can be killed and the dogs can be saved.
    Asshole get a life.

You can train any dog anything. The question is why would you teach them to attack?

the fact that you have to ask tells me you shouldnt be training….a big dog can be VERY dangerous in inexperienced hands…go to a pro if you must…

Any dog can be trained to do what their owner wants but why the h*ll would you want them too attack someone?!

I hope you plan on looking in to what could happen if your dog happens to attack someone or another animal unprovoked, and what happens to people caught dog fighting.

Please never own a dog. or definately rephrase that because it looks like you just want to train a dog then go into dog fighting.

Any dog, preferably from an early age. To give an idea, a dog above 30kg can be used to put off most attackers, and knock one over, properly trained. You should be looking at dogs above 40-45kg really, and not fat with it (but muscular). However, if you are asking that question, you should not be training it.

I have a lab that has been trained to protect, but does it on two principles:

    1) the handler is incapacitated and cannot instruct or injured in another way
    2) the handler gives the instruction

These are the only reasons, and trust me, you will get hurt if training is given incorrectly. Dogs are not weapons, and should not be used as such. The training comes from the dogs instinct to protect the pack, and unless you can tap into that resource, you should not be training such an animal. If you are in the UK and train a pitbull to attack, you will be in jail.

I suggest you make an appointment with your veterinary surgeon….
And get yourself put down you imbecile, for asking such a stupid question.
No prizes for guessing what you want to know that for.
Do you want an aggressive dog to make you look big and tough?
Bet you have a miniscule dick. And an atom sized brain.

The question is not what breeds, what individual dogs can actually STILL do it after all the damage they suffered in the hands of breeders who took away all working drive out of them.
You start by having your dog evaluated by a pro and then paying said pro several thousand dollars to train your dog for you, if he passes evaluation.

ADD: Please, forgive the bunny huggers and other random PETA fanatics that frequent this forum and use it to spew trash. Dogs were being trained to work for humans, including protecting us, long before these "experts" came around.
Dogs were bred for protection work and that is the way it is!

ADD: Akita R.I.P…I have no interest in dog fighting, the way the question is phrased leaves one to believe that he talking about a legitimate protection dog.
He may be a troll or not understand English so well? I have no idea, I do know that looking at the question the wy it was asked, dog fighting never came to mind. My apologies to you if that is indeed what he is thinking!

wow loads of biased answers and some good ones.

i like the ones that ask you "why are you wanting one to attack?"

hmmm you want to own a dog and make it into a living weapon? if it actually does attack the dog will be put down and you will go to court.

ANY breed of dog can attack!

reports have been made on every breed of dog we just hear more about big dogs because they have more bite pressure than say a Pomeranian, even though that Pom has never been trained and launches itself at passers by and has drawn blood upon EVERY contact hit its made.

    ADD:
IF THIS offends you im sorry you have not made it known that you are not using this dog for fighting we see plans to buy for illegal activities alot i think those here have a right to seem offended. since they see this so often most of the time TROLLING people post those

if you were training for Schutzhund then that should be let known on here. i think someone training for it would let people know he/she is indeed training for Schutzhund.

You should never be allowed animals. Training a dog to attack is wrong. If they bit someone they would be put down. I think in these cases the owner should be put down too.
There are no ‘dangerous breeds’ just dangerous owners. An animal will only do as its been taught.
Please don’t get a dog with the intention to train it to attack. You will only be signing its death warrant.

It is the wording of this question that worries me. Now if he had said what other breeds could be trained to ‘defend’ me. In my opinion in normal circumstances a dog has no need to ‘attack’ to defend you. I think any dog over Toy size, with hackles up, lips drawn back exposing the teeth and snarling would deter all but the most determined aggressor.

I believe that if you have formal training in martial arts and use it in a confrontational situation you are likely to be prosecuted yourself. I would imagine the same could apply to having an attack trained dog and using it similarly – undue force etc. You are allowed to defend yourself, but only within reasonable levels.

If you live in the UK then the answer is none legally, as any person who uses their dog to attack another person is committing an offence, the police are training dogs in different ways now as criminals have been awarded compensation for injuries caused by a police dog attack

    Attack what?

If you teach your dog to attack people, or other dogs your dog will be put down and you will face a court case. You shouldn’t own a dog if that is your intention, teach a dog bad things and it may turn round and bite you on the ars*!
