Many dog lovers find dog doors both practical and humane since they give dogs the freedom to go outside and relieve themselves whenever they need to, as opposed to having to wait for their owners to take them out and being scolded if the urgency was too much.

Understanding Dog Doors

A dog door is one that functions with the use of a hinge or spring rather than a ‘flap’ which is fixed to a wall, door or window to allow the dog to enter or exit the house itself without anybody having to open the door. Perhaps the most famous type of dog doors is the flap type, often seen on TV, and the one where a flap is suspended from the top with some fixtures, moving freely to the inside and outside of the house, depending on whether the dog comes in or out. Dog doors are usually bigger than cat flaps and are therefore built differently. These flap doors are made with soft vinyl, in order to save the animal from getting hurt if it gets trapped.
