I have an eight year old rottweiler, I think she may be pregnant. She is a big healthy dog, and this would be her second litter. first was about five years ago,with no problems. I was just wanting to know if it is going to be a problem.
Given the average lifespan of a rottweiler, this poor dog is definitely a senior and of course she shouldn't be having puppies! The very least you can do for her now is get her decent pre-natal care. She needs her vet.

8 is very old for a dog to be having puppies – most good breeders stop around 5 years of age. If she's not too far along, I would consider having the litter aborted with an emergency spay. Whelping a litter at that age could be detrimental to her health, and there are enough badly-bred rotties in shelters without adding more.

Since breeding is ALWAYS a risk and she is an older dog YES there could be a problem. Is there some reason in the last FIVE YEARS you haven't had her spayed?

No she needs to be SPAYED. Eight years old is NOT healthy nor safe for her or her puppies. Get her spayed ASAP and save her life.

AKc says, 8 years and 9 months at time of breeding. I honestly don't think anyone can predict if your pet will have problems. You should have her health checked by a vet.

Healthy or not 8 years is pushing it for a large dog pregnancy.
She should be able to go through with it, but I'd advise having a vet ready and waiting for her. Or just regular check-ups.
There's a higher possibility of complications solely because of her age.

dont abort you would be taking a bigger risk in aborting at her age then letting her have the pups let her have the pups but under vets care make sure you get a xray done at 55 days.
