roman war dogs were molloseurs same family of dogs as rotts but not rotts. The breed didnt come until the romans settled and ended up mixing the war dogs with local cattle dogs.

So rotties wrnt used by the romans in the colluseium it was a diff breed. The rotts then bcame used to herd cattle in germany and protect the proceeds of a days sale 4 butchers hence they were called the butchers dog not the woodcutters dog

In any event…There is nothing more beautiful than watching a Rottie at work herding, protecting, pulling carts or any of the endless number of other duties these dogs love to perform.

I have personally owned three, raised them around my 2 children, cats and a bird. Having loved, been loved and protected by this breed, I won't even consider any other. There is no comparison in my estimation!
