Is the Public More Afraid of PitBulls or Rottweilers?

Don't make the same mistakes I made with my Rottweiler!

I know that these are like the two most feared by the public dog breeds, which one does the public fear more, PitBulls or Rottweilers?

Are people still trying to ban Rotties or are they just only focused on "pits" now?

The public should fear bad trainers. Pitbulls and Rottweilers only have such a bad reputation because they are such powerful animals and have the ability to do so much damage. However, they are both great family pets as long as they have the right owner.

Blame the deed, not the breed.

I’d say pitbulls. I personally have had a bad experience with pitbulls, i have been attacked, and my small dog was killed by a pitbull. Plus, i live in an area that pitbull fighting is extremely popular, and unfortunately a lot of children, adults, and other animals have been killed by them.
I don’t fear Rottweilers at all, because growing up, my parents were Rottweiler breeders, and i grew up with about 7 of them.

Honestly I feel more comfortable around Rotties, probably because I love, love dogs that originated from Germany. If Im ewalking my dog and see a pit I always move to the other side of the street. Most of them look like they want to eat him because they always wind up lunging at us.

I personaly dont fear either breed. It is a stupid stigma that was given to the breed due to people raising them to either fight, or be attack/guard dogs. Any dog, depending highly on training has potention to be aggressive, and same goes for a well mannered dog.

Pit Bull is not a breed but a term used for APBT look alikes or mixes
I believe people now are fear APBT’s more than Rotties.
But every few years there’s a different breed off dog that will be Targeted as vicious
It was once the Rottie,German Shephard, Doberman and the APBT
maybe in a few years a different breed with be targeted because of the mistakes of it’s owners
    Bad owners=unstable dogs

I’d say people are more afraid of pit bulls, as Rotties are more identifiable, and pit bulls are just about anything with a squarish head these days.

I would definitely have to go with the pit, at least in this area. I can say this based on personal experience. We currently own a pit bull, and recently held a rottweiler for our neighbor. While walking the rottie, a few people gave me weird looks or stepped to the other side of the road, but not a whole lot of them. Actually, I had quite a few people ask if she was friendly, if they could pet her, etc… However, when I walk my pit, good Lord, it’s ridiculous how many dirty looks I get, how many people cross to the other side of the street, etc… It’s as if I’m walking a 5 headed, fire breathing beast when I have Pixie on the leash. And Lord help if I’m walking her WITH my kids. Oh the comments I get from people then. Yeah, I would DEFINITELY vote for the pit bull.

Pitbulls because they have a bad reputation. But I met a Pitbull a few days ago at a shelter and he was the sweetest dog. Never bit me just played and licked :)

I’d say it depended on what person is looking at what dog. They both have very bad raps and peoples ignorance of the breeds scares them off of both.

Rottweilers are still banned in several countries. Personally, I would much rather be around an aggressive pitbull than an aggressive rottweiler. Pitts are typically around 60 pounds and rottweilers are typically around 130. They can do a lot more damage if they want and tend to be dog aggressive.

Rottweilers because Pitbulls are meant to be dog aggressive, they were bred for dog fighting and taking down other pitbulls. APBT and SBT are some of the specific breeds.

Rottweilers were used as guard dogs, used to take down humans and other dogs if needed. I would be scared to death of them.

Im going to tell you the truth. Alot of people are scared of both breeds, and they should be. The most attacks on humans were caused by the presa canario, pit bull, and rottie. Alot of people say that pitbulls were bred for a purpose, and thats dog fighting. Well they are right, but they most always redirect their aggression towards people. I have a pitbull and people watch her when they walk in the house. However rotties have a more powerful bite then the pitbull and therefore can do more damage. Pitbulls are not what the public says. they can grow up as family dogs but at on point in there life they will turn and try to be aggressive toward people. All i have to say is people are focused on those three breeds right now. Don’t always listen to what the computer says. The public has their eyes on the pitbull, presa canario,, and rottie.
