Do Rottweilers Brains Continue to Grow Throughout Their Lives?

Sunday, April 3rd, 2011
Don't make the same mistakes I made with my Rottweiler!

Have heard the breed is prone to turn on owners and others because their brains continue to grow throughout their lives causing so much pressure it drives them crazy and that is why they turn.

That must be the Rott version of that crazy urban legend about Dobermans. It is not true about either breed.
What IS true is that they’ve both gone through a phase where they were the popular "tough" dog of the moment, which meant too much breeding by bad breeders breeding dogs with unstable temperaments & selling to ignorant people getting them for the wrong reasons, who don’t know how or don’t bother to do any proper training .

Why Do People Talk Bad About Rottweilers?

Wednesday, February 2nd, 2011

I absolutely LOVE rottweilers! People always seem scared of them or something. I understand that some dog breeds can have aggressive habits by nature but I have read up on this breed. Its a naturally protective dog but the only reason a Rott would be mean would be because of un-proper training.
Just have to stress that Rotts are NOT aggressive by nature.

People need to understand that it is not the breed that is aggressive, its the humans that own them and train them.
My first dog was a rotty. She was the most well behaved, gentle dog I’ve ever owned. People are stupid

What Can I Do About My Rottweilers Sheding?

Saturday, January 22nd, 2011

I brush him with a long thinning comb and I have tried other combs. Still he gets hair every where. Hahaha I wish they made a pill that would make him stop sheding.

we have a Rottie, I know this all too well, the only thing that I have found to work, and its only partially, is the food they get, you might want to get something to help with his coat, also brush the hair against the growth direction, that will help pull the loose undercoat

Hope that Helps

How Long Do Rottweilers to Get Out of the Puppy Stage?

Thursday, January 20th, 2011

I have a 7 year old Rottie me and my wife rescued from a pound, so we missed the puppy stage. Any ways we are getting a Rottie puppy in a couple weeks. I am going to crate train. We will let the dog out of course when we are home. I just want to know how many years I can expect to wait before I can leave her out all the time and not have all my stuff chewed up?

Depends on the dog they are all different. Talk to your breeder and pick the correct dog make sure the puppies are temperament tested and that should be the way to tell what your dog will grow up to be like.

I don’t have a Rottie but my one dog had the run of the house probably at 10 months but I have a nine month old pup that may never get run of the house at this rate he is way more active and he is into everything.

Help on Introduction for Speech About Rottweilers? I Can’t Think of Any Attention Getters?

Saturday, December 11th, 2010

I am doing a speech about rottweilers, and I can’t think of anything for an attention-getter for the introduction. Any ideas will be helpful. Thank you!

I would be quite happy for you to email me your speech and let me see if I can "correct" anything.

As long as your speech is positive then thanks from me and the rottweiler world for promoting this wonderful breed.

I am with rottweiler rescue trust and have friends who show & breed and see hundreds and hundreds. I have three here at the moment but always foster so continually have a turn around within my home.

How about starting with the fact that ….

They are one of the most tolerant breeds with children when brought up with them. FACT.

That they make super PAT (Pets as Therapy) dogs as most are calm around people.

That they are loyal, intelligent and just love to please – if you treat them correctly.

That they are the most handsomest dog breed there is …. lol… I’m biased.

Would love to see your speech anyway.

Add on — I do totally agree with "there is no cure"… one fo the things we are in danger of when promoting them is attracting people who do not understand the attitude needed to nurture them through to well balanced dogs.

Why Do People Think Rottweilers, Pitbulls and Boxers Are All Mean Dogs?

Wednesday, September 22nd, 2010

So Rottweilers and Pitbulls have been in the top 3 of dog attacks in the last 5 years, but why do people automatically think that when they hear the word Rottweiler, Pitbull or Boxer that it’s a dog they won’t own?

Those statistics are not true. There is no way to identify a dog unless you do blood work and test to see what breeds the dog is. People are ignorant and believe everything they hear on the media. I have owned a Rottweiler, GSD/Wolf mix, GSD/Cattle dog mix, Pit Bull, and I know two Boxers. None are aggressive.

For People Who Have or Had Rottweilers, What Are the Pros and Cons of Owning a Rottweiler?

Tuesday, September 21st, 2010

Also, why do rottweilers have such a bad rap? Everybody I have talked to about getting a rottweiler, they always say rottweilers are mean, vicious and dumb. These are usually people that have not owned a rottweiler (I myself have owned one when I was a kid and he was none of these things)
So why are rottweilers viewed in such a negative light?

pros: they are Intelligent, gentle and lovable. For me, my rotties were the easiest to house break and train.

The cons: due to being one of the "popular" dogs for "guarding" the rottie has been over bred to the point that the breed is close to being ruined. There’s a lot of unstable dogs out there owned by idiots that don’t have a clue how to train or control their dogs giving the rottweiler the bad press it has gotten due to attacks.

Should People Get Permits to Own Rottweilers and Pittbuls?

Sunday, May 23rd, 2010

According to the American Veterinary Medical Association, the CDC, and the Humane Society of the United States, pitbulls and Rottweilers are the top two most dangerous dog breeds.

I think people should GET PERMITS to own these dogs.
The PEOPLE should be licensed to own them and handle them responsibly.
Yes, Pits and Rotties get a bad rap, but it is their inbred character if not kept under control that can lead to a disastrous situation.
